Its my great pleasure and honor as well to welcome you in the 6th International Endocrine conference of Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES) and 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM). As newly elected President of BES I am privileged to uphold the conference immediately after the election. For this I like to thank the organizing committee, Immediate past President and General Secretary with all EC members. Also, Life Members (215), General Members (43) and Associate Members (181) of BES (Total LM+GM+AM=376). Hope new Endocrinologist will be member of BES continuously as best platform.
BES started its journey since long as think tank of National Professor M Ibrahim and registered in Joint Stock Company of Bangladesh in 2012 under the leadership of Prof AK Azad khan (President at that time) and Prof Md Liaqat Ali (General Secretary at that time) . The endocrinology subject (Diabetes, Thyroid and Other hormonal diseases) was at very primitive stage at that time. But now due to visionary of our leaders, the subject come a first priority among the doctors and peoples/ patients are with increasing awareness getting standard treatment. Manpower is now more than 400 Endocrinologist working in the country. Government increasing post in Public medical colleges. Private medical college feeling necessity and increase demands of the Endocrinologist.
As President of the Society, I am really grateful to all previous leaders of the society specially Professor Md Faruque Pathan and Prof SM Ashrafuzzaman with their team make the dream of the Endocrinologist a successful one. Even then, many thinks to do and long ways to go. I see the dream of National Institute of Endocrinology in Bangladesh. Also, disease specific super specialist (Thyroidologist, Thyroid Cancer Specialist, Thyroid Surgeon, Parathyroid Surgeon etc..) and as such!
I shall earnestly request all the Endocrinologist to work together for the subject as well as for Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES). I pray and hope for your extended cooperation to run the society smoothly and successfully in my tenure and for my good health.
